The Bay Breeze, sometimes referred to as a Downeaster or Hawaiian Sea Breeze, is based upon the cocktail known as the Cape Codder.

A Cape Codder is simply vodka and cranberry juice with a lime wedge garnish and so the Bay Breeze has added an extra splash of pineapple juice to mix it up just a little for a completely unique flavour.

It closely resembles the IBA official Sea Breeze, but replaces the grapefruit juice with the pineapple juice instead. IBA official drinks are measured in centilitres instead of millilitres, but for the Bay Breeze you can use about 1 oz. per 3 cl of liquid.

The Bay Breeze is simple and straight forward to make. All you need to do is add the ingredients to a shaker, with the ice being optional, and shake until mixed well. Pour the drink into the glass of your choice then garnish with a lime wedge and maybe an umbrella for that touch of island atmosphere. Adding a sipping straw is also optional, but often preferred.
