Bloody Mary

3 parts vodka
6 parts tomato juice
1 part lemon juice
Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco sauce
Salt
Pepper

The Bloody Mary is made by first adding a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, salt and pepper to a highball glass. Ice is then added and the vodka, tomato juice and lemon juice are poured over. The drink is then stirred gently and a celery stalk and a lemon wedge are added. Carrot and manzanilla olives are also common garnishes.

The Bloody Mary is actually supposed to be used for a hangover cure and so it is typically drank in the morning hours after a long night of drinking.

There is a long list of variations of the Bloody Mary, including the Bloody Bishop which adds three parts Sherry to the drink.

Cabernet Sauvignon is used to replace the vodka in order to get a Bloody Cab.

A Bloody Fairy, or Red Fairy, is made by using Absinthe in place of the vodka.

A Bloody Murder is achieved by replacing the vodka with gin, the Worcestershire sauce with black vinegar, adding wasabi and serving with a cherry pierced by a plastic sword stirrer.

A dash of 151 rum is added to the top of a frozen version of this drink in a ceramic mug then ignited to create a Frozen Flaming Bloody Mary, often called a Bloody Fire and Ice.

Additionally, a Screw Mary can be created by using equal parts vodka, orange juice and tomato juice or V8 then seasoned to taste.
